Ukraine's former Defense Minister Anatoliy Grytsenko announced the official beginning of his campaign today, after submitting his documents to the Central Election Commission. He compared himself to a private, who volunteered to go to war. Grytsenko's war is the battle against «the state ruled by corrupt officials, criminals and scoundrels».

Coal mining, and especially coking coal, has been a very problematic industry in Ukraine - it is highly inefficient due to outdated machinery and the depth of its mines.

Although elected to parliament in the NU-NS bloc, Yatsenyuk has de facto ditched key elements in its platform, such as abolishing parliamentary immunity; legal recognition of Ukrainian nationalist partisans who fought against the Nazis and Soviets in the 1940s; NATO membership; and energy independence (Yatsenyuk supports a gas consortium with Russia).
