01/12/2014 one of the co-editors of Euromaidan Press Thomas Seiner photographed the contents of trucks arriving from Russia under the guise of "humanitarian convoy" for Donbass people, and uploaded the photos to his Twitter-account. They display that the trucks of the so-called "humanitarian convoy" contain weapons, ammunition and military equipment. Meanwhile, the National Security and Defence Council noted that the trend towards increasing hostilities was marked immediately after the arrival of another "convoy" from Russia.
12.01.2014 Ukrainian and Russian militarymen from the Joint Center for Ceasefire Monitoring and Coordination headed for the Donetsk airport to resolve the crisis situation there. The previous day officials from the ATO headquarters said that Russia used its special forces to assault the Donetsk airport. In the evening some Ukrainian media reported that the gunfire at the airport stopped, others referred to the stories of locals that the tension near the airport didn’t decrease. Late at night the OSCE representatives informed about the ceasefire agreement between the Ukrainian military and LPR militants. Ceasefire along the contact line will be implemented from December 5 and on December 6 the military will withdraw heavy military equipment.
Russian publication "Vedomosti" notes that Vladimir Avdeenko and Boris Rapoport retired from a Kremlin department that deals with Russian policy towards the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR. "Vedomosti" speaks about a desire to get psychological safety valve as one of the possible reasons for the retirement of both officials: "The situation is difficult, and at the moment there is simply no concrete plan to resolve the crisis, it is not easy to work under such conditions." According to the information available, after the retirement of Rapoport the vacant place can be occupied by Igor Udovichenko, who worked in 2011 as a deputy manager of the department for domestic policy.
